Faces of Sagal

Peter Sagal, the host of NPR's "immensely popular" news quiz show, "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!" spoke at the opening of Elizabeth Hall, Weber State University's new communications building. Funniest, smartest guy I've met in awhile.

Dick Schaffert has the pocket watch of Yuri Andropov, the premier of the Soviet Union in 1983, which Andropov used to time the 10 minutes he would wait until he ordered a Soviet fighter to shoot down KAL 007, a civilian airliner that strayed into Soviet air space. Or so he says. Schaffert was a fighter pilot during the Vietnam War, studied counter-terrorism in the Phillipines and spied on East German premier Erich Honecker for NATO. He met his Hungarian wife, Erzsebet Czibolia, posing in her blue fox stole at their home in Roy, Utah, while in Germany.

Mr. Snookums

Aka Tiger, is about 13 years old now. We got him and his brother Cocoa as tiny feral kittens. Corrie said he looks like a stuffed animal who's been loved so much his fur is wearing away and his button eyes are starting to fall off. He's been my loyal friend for many years and still purrs loudly and prances around my mother's house despite his scrawniness. He still sleeps on me when I visit.
