Suzie and Robert Radtke received a grant from the Animal Welfare Approved program to improve things on their family farm in South Weber. The program audits and certifies that commonly domesticated farm animals like cows, bison, pigs, sheep, goats, and poultry are raised humanely. Although there are many animals on the Radtke farm, the family will buy incubators and other equipment needed to raise adult chickens from their own eggs.

Students from Ogden High School took a tour of McKay-Dee Hospital today, which included learning to suture on pigs' feet, as Huixian Liang and Jamie McBryde are practicing in the above photo. The group also checked out the Life Flight helicopter and Kael Buck volunteered for a demonstration of the ultrasound machine.

I was pleasantly surprised to photograph at this restaurant today, Thyme & Seasons in Bountiful. Chef Hai Fitzgerald was very friendly and seemed to cook up whatever he felt like that minute. He filleted a large salmon and told me about many of the dishes on the menu - several Thai items as well as grilled salmon and halibut, Kansas City bbq ribs, prime rib and the lobster festival dinner for Valentine's Day - a very eclectic menu, all made daily, from a very passionate chef. He got excited when I told him about the steak and cheese and shepherd's pies Ricky and I have made and said he'd have to find a good crust recipe and make some nice gravy...I had Royal Thai stir fry for lunch, delicious, and will return for dinner soon.
