First day of the Fort Collins Music eXperiment.

Eagles Hockey

Bummer. Eagles lost their playoff series to the Steelheads. I had a great time photographing their games. Good luck Aces!

Easter in FoCo

I know I'm not alone in this. What happened to the Easter egg hunt? When I was a kid, I took my basket and wandered around my backyard hunting for hardboiled eggs that I helped dye with my family. I get that it wouldn't be great for hardboiled eggs to remain unfound and rot in public...but candy-filled plastic eggs strewn about a lawn = kids scrambling to grab as many as possible while parents point and shout? There has to be a happy medium somewhere...

Good Friday

Top, Corey Smith sings "All Creatures of Our God and King." Bottom, president of the LDS Church Loveland Stake Mark Crane greets people before a Good Friday performance at the Fort Collins Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints April 18, 2014. Young people from both the Fort Collins and Loveland Churches make up the Rocky Mountain Mormon Youth Chorale. I worked in Utah for 5 years and I think this is the first time I have ever photographed inside an LDS church. I was actually somewhat nervous since Mormons usually have pretty strict rules about this sort of thing. Everyone was incredibly nice and helpful, especially Tina Wood, who coordinated the whole thing. Both Mark Crane, Loveland stake president and Gary Foster, FoCo stake president, were very welcoming and it was interesting to be at a Good Friday service that wasn't Catholic or Lutheran - generally very different practices.

Garrett Comes Home

Garrett Bryant, center, is hugged by Fossil Ridge basketball coach Matt Johannsen and friend Sammi Burroughs as he arrives home in Fort Collins after being released from Craig Hospital in Engelwood, after he suffered a traumatic brain injury from a fall down stairs Jan. 26 in Garden City, Kansas Friday, April 4, 2014. Bryant, a former Fossil Ridge baseball and basketball player who was playing baseball at Garden City Community College when the accident happened, didn't come straight home: he took a detour to Coors Field for the Rockies’ home opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks with his parents. I made a video. You can see it here.

Rodeo Queen

2014 Larimer County Fair and Rodeo Queen Danielle Mayer, with her horse Bullet prepare for the Skyline Stampede rodeo at the B.W. Pickett Arena in Fort Collins Friday, April 11, 2014. The Stampede is the oldest intercollegiate rodeo in the country and is organized by the CSU Rodeo Club.

Concrete Canoe

CSU students Tyler Davis, left, and Rudy Parks race their concrete canoe in the men's endurance event on Horsetooth Reservoir Saturday, April 5, 2014. A five-person team of senior civil engineering students spent one academic year building the boat out of light-weight glass aggregate, glass beads, and other materials and finished it last week. The competition was part of the Rocky Mountain Regional Conference of the American Society of Engineers held April 3-5.
