Organic Alternatives

Owner Steve Ackerman pauses in the doorway of a flower room at the Organic Alternatives grow warehouse in Fort Collins Thursday, July 17, 2014. The process involves use of high-intensity lights and air conditioning and Ackerman said he made arrangements to purchase wind energy credits to offset the use of fossil fuels for this process.

Marcus, 3

Marcus Boeding, 3, sits on the sidewalk outside his home in Fort Collins Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Marcus was born with total anomalous pulmonary venous return, a congenital heart disease where the pulmonary veins do not connect from the lungs back to the heart, and had open heart surgery when he was about 5 weeks old. He is going strong at 3, and his family will ride in the 25th Annual Courage Classic to benefit the Children's Hospital Colorado in his honor, where Marcus received his life-saving surgery.
